The palace
piece 4

That was the content of the letter which has made him take this trip. He had to assess the value of the building, the property the things in that building and find out suitable buyer and sell the building.

He got down at Jammu and hired a private taxi. It will drop him at the gate of the palace and collect him from there on the date he calls him.

The car started to move, it was quite a pleasant journey nothing to write home about but pleasant. The car was moving cautiously on the hilly roads and occasionally on plain.

It took him almost eighteen hours to reach the small valley in which the palace was situated.

It was not a mansion, it was a palace. It was quite evident to him now that the writer of the letter has never visited his ancestral abode. Otherwise he would have never called it a mansion.

It was a real beauty even now. If he owned it he would have kept it at any cost.

The main building was intact, some of the outhouses, which were built later have collapsed it seemed.

It was an elegant building built in Mughal style, with sandstone. A huge, ill maintained garden was surrounding it.
