The spirits of darkness and light
“This palace is haunted.” the driver said. “That’s why the family deserted it. Otherwise, who will let go such a beautiful thing? It’s a thing to show off, not hide or reject.
“Is the ghost dangerous?” he asked casually. He did not believe in ghosts. He has spent a lot of time in lot of haunted places for studying the antiques, never encountered anyone from the other world. He knew most of the haunting was man-made, so he wanted to know if he will have to stay prepared for life threatening situations.
“No, it’s only harmful, ominous for the descendants of this family.”
“The caretaker has lived here with his family for generations. So has the manager who takes care of the estate. The manager passed away a few years back, the condition of the property started to deteriorate after that.”
“How come you know so much about this property? It’s quite far away from Jammu.” Debdeep was quite curious now.
“I live in this village. That is, I was born and brought up here I shifted to Jammu five years back. Even now, I come here every month and whenever I come here I come to Raju Chacha (uncle), the caretaker for chatting. I have spent quite a few nights here, never felt anything uneasy.”
